Moriah started dancing at the age of 10 at a local NH studio and quickly fell in love with all styles of dance. She was a competitive dancer from the age of 12 to 18 years where she received multiple first place and platinum awards in Jazz and Lyrical. After competing she went on to continue her dance education at Dean College. In 2011, Moriah started her professional dance career on the Boston Cannons Dance Team, a former Major League Lacrosse team. She then moved to Seattle, WA where she continued training, performing in shows, and expanding her knowledge in different styles of dance at Westlake Dance Center and Kirkland Dance Center from 2015 through 2021. During her time in Seattle, Moriah fell in love with a new style of dancing called Heels and trained under Natalia Z, founder of Z Theory. In 2021, Moriah moved back to NH and started Pumps & Pirouettes, with the goal of bringing recreational adult dance classes and performances opportunities to NH. She continues to train and educate herself in dance so she can continue growing along with her students.

“I dance for those that come after. To open minds and hearts. Including my own. The connections I’ve made through movement, I never would’ve made otherwise. I’ve connected with so many incredible people. And my students are what keeps me pushing. I need to make myself better for them. For anyone who believes in me. So that I can pass on everything I learn and keep this beautiful tradition alive.
My inspiration for dance is change and communication. I want to be able to make people feel what I cannot explain in words. But it is also a release. It is a way for me to tell stories, exercise, create, and let things out in a healthy way. Dance, for me, is so much more than an art. It is one of the few universal languages of humankind along with music, physical, and visual arts. I want to be versed in all the styles I can find. I don't need to be an expert. But I want to know enough about each individual culture to be able to portray things, and have that culture understand."
My name is Andy and I’ve had a passion for dance my entire life! It started when I was a little kid and watched this footage of a live performance of Riverdance (which was an Irish dance showcase) and I began dance class immediately! By the time I was in high school I was taking every genre of class you can take! Multiple studios, workshops, dance was my main focus! I got to choreograph a dance for my high schools musical, I started subbing senior year of high school and started teaching regularly when I was 21! I started learning pole dance when I was
22 and pole is such an amazing form of dance / athleticism that has added so much excitement into my dance world! Im now a competitive dancer! I’m always challenging myself with dance and I love to challenge my students as well! Growth is something we all love to experience and to watch! I teach now jazz, tap, contemporary, pole, and stilettos! I love being at a point where I’m not just teaching I’m also performing and bettering myself which reflects onto students of mine! The drive and rush I have with dance I like to share with my students / co teachers! I know no matter how old I get dance will always be a major part of my life!

Melissa can’t remember a time when dance was not a part of her life. She started training in ballet at age 7 with Patricia Rousseau in Merrimack, NH. As her passion for dance grew, she
added classes in all forms of classical dance and joined Granite State Ballet in Nashua, NH in high school where she had the opportunity to study with Betsy Collins, Clyde Nantais, James
Reardon, and Allan Kinzie. She attended Butler University in Indianapolis, IN where she graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance. While at Butler University, she developed a
passion for modern dance in addition to ballet, studying with Larry White (former Martha Graham Company dancer). Melissa began teaching as an apprentice under Patricia Rousseau in
high school and has been teaching her entire adult life, mostly in southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. She has taught classical ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, and choreography to all ages from pre-school to adults. She also performed and choreographed for Jennie & Company, a contemporary dance company in Fitchburg, MA for a few seasons after graduating college. Melissa taught at Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater for 15 years where she helped choreograph and stage “The Nutcracker” at the Palace Theatre and was integral in coordinating their membership in Regional Dance America. She attended many RDA festivals
with Southern NH Youth Ballet and had her choreography adjudicated by RDA on several occasions. She also coordinated a special production of “La Boutique Fantasque” for local schools to attend as a field trip. Melissa helped to create and choreograph two original ballet productions in collaboration with Tracy Kane based on her “Fairy Houses” children’s books. Melissa has choreographed original dance works in collaboration with musicians Tod Parker, Christopher Gantner, and Recycled Percussion. Melissa has also studied aerial fabric arts with
Heather Dragoeiscu at Go Ninja in Manchester, NH. She has performed and instructed with the group and attended the American Youth Circus Organization national festival in Portland, ME. Melissa is now developing a ballet conditioning program applicable not just to ballet students, but all dancers, athletes in any sport, and anyone looking to improve muscle tone and the
efficiency of movement. She is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)® Instructor.
I’m Brianna (Bri) and I’ve had a passion for dance since a very young age.
When I was little, I would be caught practicing dance routines when I was supposed to be guarding my team’s goal on the soccer field. And that’s when it was clear that dance was something more for me!
I’ve been a student of Barbara’s Academy of Dance since age 3 and have taken classes like tap, jazz, musical theater, lyrical and my favorite of all hip hop! I was able to be a student teacher there for a few years until I left MA and went to college at the University of Rhode Island in 2014 where I was a member of the URI Dance Company as well. In 2021, I returned to Barbara’s both as a student and an instructor of musical theater, tap, lyrical, and hip hop for teens and burlesque jazz for adults.
My love of hip hop has always been present but it really grew in high school while I was a member of a dance crew called The Movement. This crew exposed me to a lot of dance firsts. It was my first exposure to hard hitting hip hop choreography that introduced me to styles like popping and breaking and allowed me to experience performing as a team for shows and competitions like UML’s Got Talent in 2013 where we won 1st place!
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach a hip hop class for adults and aim to create an open space for individuals to express themselves freely, feel confident and have fun!
